Longlegs is not just another horror movie, but a record-breaking project which is now all set to bring a huge collection of money for the company.
Starring Nicolas Cage, the film has already earned a whooping $3 million in it’s previews, and is currently aiming for bigger numbers during it’s opening weekend. Before ‘Longlegs,’ Sydney Sweeney led “Immaculate” was saving this record in it’s profit of indie horror, but now it seems like those numbers are at stake.
Earlier this year, it was Immaculate that opened with $5.3 million. Now Longlegs is tracking a ground breaking collection of $10 million to $15 million on world wide box office. It would be a huge milestone for an indie-horror based movie to touch that level of numbers, especially when we takes a look at their budget.
Meanwhile the numbers can even surpass our predictions because the early reviews are mostly positive. As per Variety, Longlegs is delivering a perfect ratio of jumpscares while dealing with the pace and emotions beautifully. The film is destabilizing the audience with “unforeseen bursts of absurdity,” which is enough to engage almost anyone or everyone.
Talking about the numbers game then Longlegs is also eyeing to smash out other latest projects, especially Scarlett Johansson led ‘Fly Me to the Moon.’ Starring our Johansson as lead, ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ has made around $875,000 in previews -which is now looking like a piece of cake for our new indie-horror.
Technically, Longlegs is a low-budget film – and with these numbers, it looks like this project will earn a good profit. Meanwhile Scarlett led ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ is coming with a price tag of around $100 million, so it do have to perform beyond imaginations if they really want to earn some cash.
What Is Longlegs About?
This unique and special project is about a terrifying serial killer (Nicolas Cage) who is enough to give you a good amount of jumpscare. Maika Monroe is also portraying a character, who is an FBI agent and is set to play a key role.
As much as I knows, FBI Agent Lee Harker (Maika) is assigned to an unsolved serial killer case that takes an unexpected turn, revealing evidence of the occult. Harker discovers a personal connection to the killer and must stop him before he strikes again.
It should be noted that the IMDB rating of Longlegs is at 7.7/10 – that might change in the near future. So keep an eye on them.
