Sofia Carson is one of those shining actresses who is all set to rule over our hearts in the near future, and now she is all set to star in the upcoming live-action movie adaptation of the popular ‘My Oxford Year!’ Now if you are wondering about what this project is going to deliver you, then here’s everything that you need to know!
Just in case if you don’t know then let me tell you that ‘My Oxford Year‘ is a highly beloved and popular best-selling novel which was first released back in April 2018. Now it is getting a movie treatment and the script is penned by none other then our Savion Einstein.
Talking about the director then Iain Morris is going to fill these shoes for you. Iain is very well known for the three seasons of The Inbetweeners coupled up with two follow-up movies.
What ‘My Oxford Year’ Is Really About?
Here’s the official synopsis for the new movie:
When Anna, an ambitious young American woman, sets out for Oxford University to fulfill a childhood dream, she has her life completely on track until she meets a charming and clever local who profoundly alters both of their lives.
There’s a fun fact that I’d just love to share with you all. Many few people knows that a movie based on this novel was under development back in 2015 also. At that time, it was announced that Temple Hill will stay behind the mask of producers along with ScreenGems, though the title of that movie was ‘Oxford.’
Melissa Benoist and Sam Heughan were going to lead that movie, with Allison Burnett penning the script. Unfortunately, the ‘Oxford’ movie never went into production.
Now it’s 2024 and Sofia Carson is all set to bring her beauty with talent in the form of ‘My Oxford Year,’ under the show of Netflix. Joining her is Corey Mylchreest who is no stranger to the fans of Netflix.
This project is going to be the fifth major Netflix based IP for Sofia Carson. Her latest hit was Purple Hearts, that was release back in 2022. Now the next movie where she is going to bring her talent is Carry-On, where Jason Bateman and Taron Egerton are going to star opposite to her.
Meanwhile Corey is best known for his role as Young King George in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. Long story short, Temple Hill production is producing this feature film ‘My Oxford Year,’ with Laura Quicksilver and George Berman managing the production.
Caroline Levy is going to serve as an executive producer. Just for your knowledge, let me add that Temple Hill production has previously worked with Netflix on We Have a Ghost and Fatherhood, so of course they have a plenty of experience in their pockets.
