Travis Kelce, the illustrious tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs and a three-time Super Bowl champion, is expanding his horizons beyond the football field. In an exclusive interview with “Good Morning America,” the 34-year-old NFL star discussed his latest pursuits, including an unexpected venture into acting and memorable moments from his off-season.
A Memorable White House Visit
Kelce began by recounting a significant highlight of his off-season: a visit to the White House with his teammates to celebrate their Super Bowl victory. During the event, Kelce was called to the podium by President Joe Biden, a moment he described with characteristic humor and humility.
“President [Joe] Biden called me up this time,” Kelce recalled. “I didn’t have to sneak around him to get to it…It was cool. You know, I had no idea he was gonna do that. He kinda just sprung it on me. And it was real.” Travis Kelce laughed as he shared how the Secret Service made sure he understood their orders to keep him away from the podium unless explicitly invited, adding, “I felt all the Taser guns on me when I walked up there.”
An Acting Debut Of Travis Kelce
Travis Kelce is not just stopping at football accolades; he is now stepping into the world of acting. He has secured a role in Ryan Murphy’s forthcoming FX series, “Grotesquerie.” Unlike his previous television appearances where he played himself, this role requires him to portray a character, a challenge he is tackling with enthusiasm.
“I guess you could say that [I am an actor]. Yeah,” Kelce said. “I’ve been on a few shows before… I’ve only played myself in those shows, though. So it’s definitely different portraying a character and trying to find the emotions in everything, and the understanding of a script and the scene. But it’s a challenge.”
Embracing New Challenges
Despite being new to acting, Kelce is embracing the learning process with a positive attitude. “I feel like an amateur right now, but it’s definitely a fun challenge, and I’m enjoying every bit of it, for sure… I’m coachable. That’s one thing I know from being in sports, I am a coachable guy,” he stated.
Travis Kelce credited the collaborative efforts of his colleagues for his smooth transition into acting. “Everybody involved in terms of the actors and the directors and the writers have just helped me out so much, understanding what I’m supposed to be doing. And I’m just havin’ fun with it,” he added, highlighting the supportive environment that has made his new journey enjoyable.
Podcast Success & Future Plans!
In addition to his acting debut, Kelce reflected on the unexpected success of his podcast with his brother, which has garnered a significant following. “I couldn’t have even imagined it’d get to the point it is today. And I’m so fortunate that everybody, you know, kinda latched on to me and my brother’s family dynamic, because that’s really what my goal was too when we started the podcast,” he said.
Kelce’s foray into acting marks a new chapter in his multifaceted career. His willingness to step out of his comfort zone, coupled with his natural charisma and dedication, suggests a promising future in this new field.
As he continues to balance his football career with his burgeoning interest in acting, fans and followers can look forward to seeing more of his dynamic talents both on and off the field.
