Moana Live-Action Release Date: When Is The Movie Coming!
This is the update for which almost all of us were looking around and finally we knows the exact release date of Moana Live-Action movie.
According to Dwayne Johnson, Walt Disney Studios and its collaborators for the film are “still very early in the process” of development, with lots “more work to be done.” Live-action adaptations have historically taken Disney anywhere between 3-5 years to create.
However, on June 13, Johnson shared an exciting update to Instagram, revealing the exact release date for the live-action version of Moana — and it’s arriving in just two years.
In his official Instagram post, he wrote, “It’s my privilege to share our legends, songs, and dance of our Polynesian culture with all of you and your families. Mark your calendars for June 27, 2025 now!“
That means the movie is now under very active state of development and many new updates might land in the next few months. This update was released during the times of writer’s and actor’s strike, so it was too unpredictable to say anything about that.
However, we are lucky because the strike is now over and both the studios and other writer’s and actor’s associations are developing a contract in order to reach a fair deal. We should just hope for the best because this strike was causing a lot of chaos in the Hollywood as the studios were not able to release their movies on time.
Since the strike is officially going to over, we can now expect Moana Live-Action to land on it’s scheduled date of June 27, 2025!
Moana Live-Action Will Bring Tons Of Musicals!
If we are talking about the Disney movies, then how can we leave it’s musicals. After all the studio has established many golden milestones for it’s visually appealing songs. From “Let It Go” to “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”, the studio maintains a large amount of musicals and Moana Live-Action movie is also getting the same treatment.
According to many trusted Hollywood reports and other large websites, Disney is planning to bring the largest collection of songs in a single movie via this live action remake!
That’s not a joke. The reports claims that Moana Live Action movie will feature tons of new and original songs, and this time, we might see a song revolving around the side kicks as well. In fact, if rumors to be believed then the movie will also feature a newer versions of it’s popular songs such as “You’re Welcome” and “How Far I’ll Go.”
However, it depends upon their music team as well and if Mark Mancina, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Opetaia Foa’i return to compose the soundtrack, then we might get these newer versions for sure.
Who Is In The Cast Of Moana Live-Action?
Now after talking about the musicals, next big thing which is known to either make the movie or break it is the casting. So who is going to play the live action versions of these beautiful animated characters?
The biggest and official update in the casting area is none other then The Rock himself. The actor has given his voice to Maui in the original movie and he is the one who has announced this live action remake officially on the YouTube channel of Walt Disney Studios!
As a true Disney fan, you may wish to watch The Rock as Maui and Auli Cravalho as Moana and luckily, your wishes are coming true, but not as a whole!
Rock The Dwayne Johansson is officially going to reprise his role as Maui in this live action remake and it means that we are finally going to get a chance ot watch him fighting against other demi gods or villains in the movie. However, on the other hand, Auli Cravalho (who gave her voice to Moana in the original animated movie) is not returning to reprise her role.
Of course it is like a bummer for many Disney fans, but she is producing this live action remake, so it’s impossible for her to play this role at the same time.
On her official Instagram handle, she has posted a short video revealing that she is not returning to reprise her role as Moana, however, she is going to be the part of the creative and casting team in order to bring the best face for this epic character.
Now after hearing this update, fans from all across the globe are worried for this role, and to be honest, Disney itself is responsible for it. We’ve seen how the studio is busy in spoiling some of it’s most iconic characters through it’s live action remakes. Their remakes are not the problem, but their casting is creating a lot of chaos on the internet.
The best example can be their recently released remake of The Little Mermaid, where they’ve shown almost no interest in doing a perfect casting. Other example can be their upcoming live action remake of Snow White, which is now creating a lot of controversies on the internet. However, Rachel Zegler (the actress who is playing Snow White) herself is the reason behind this mess.
So on the basis of the current scenario, it is hard to say anything about the casting of our Moana. Still we can expect something good because Auli Cravalho herself will be taking part in this process. Moana Live-Action Plotline : What Is Happening In The Movie?
The next big thing that you might want to know about is the plotline aka the storyline of this movie. As of now, no big updates are out yet regarding the plot of Moana Live Action, but some short synopsis were previously revealed by the Disney itself on the basis of which we can make some educated predictions.
According to the short synopsis that has been revealed so far, “Like it’s animated predecessor, the film will celebrate the islands, communities and traditions of Pacific Islanders as seen through the eyes of a young women eager to pave her own path. Moana’s journey of self-discovery and reflection on the lives of her ancestors won hearts worldwide, as did her newfound friendship with an exiled demigod named Maui!“
So on the basis of this synopsis, we should expect the original storyline with some modern touch and new modifications which might make this movie even more exciting. However, it would be too early to predict the whole plot, still we may get a chance to explore some new islands where the new enemies and demigods might be waiting for our two protagonists.
We may also get a chance to explore the full mysteries behind the powers of our Demigod Maui, where Moana and her gang might uncover the secrets from the past of Maui.
But in short, Moana Live-Action Movie is looking all good and only time will tell us more about it. As of now, the movie is set to hit theatres on June 27, 2025 and things will get even more clear n the upcoming months for sure.
