The ending of Secret Invasion features not only a Super-Skrull brawl, a long-awaited execution, but it has now officially confirmed a dark Ironman theory.
The whole Marvel Show was full of ups and down and we also got some new faces in the MCU. But by the end of episode 6, everything came to an interesting plotline of our Tony Stark.
The Ending Of Secret Invasion
Secret Invasion ends with Gravik being killed by G’iah, who becomes a Super-Skrull with all the powers from the Harvest. Skrull Rhodey is also killed by Fury, fuelling Ritson to wage war on all alien species on Earth.
As Skrull Rhodey falls to the ground, he returns to his alien form. Meanwhile, G’iah frees all of the humans locked in fracking pods, including Everett Ross and the real Rhodey.
Fury then returns to the S.A.B.E.R. space station to negotiate a peace treaty with the Kree., but he takes Priscilla with him because he thinks that she’s the best diplomat they have.
The final words of the ending scene :-
Fury says, “We’re better together,” but Priscilla returns to her Skrull form and says, “I just wanted to tell you that I love you, as I am”. Fury replies, “Only as you are.” Finally they head into space together.
The Darkest Ironman Theory Is Officially Confirmed
If Rhodey has indeed been replaced by a Skrull since Civil War, it means that he should have no memory of the last two Avengers movies.
This is particularly tragic considering the death of Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame, having sacrificed himself to defeat Thanos and his mad army.
The real Rhodey more than likely has no idea that his best friend died nor that there was a funeral as seen at the end of the 2019 film, in which the Skrull impostor was apparently present posing as Rhodey.
However, it might have taken away his ability to grieve the loss of Tony. That said, the confirmation of this tragic twist has now made Rhodey’s future Armor Wars movie incredibly compelling as it will undoubtedly need to unpack the complex emotions Rhodey will be feeling once he gets caught up on everything he missed.
Rhodey Was Actually Replaced After Civil War
The real Rhodey is seen wearing a hospital gown when freed by Gi’ah (Emilia Clarke), she confirms that the Avenger has been in stasis for quite a long time.
Rhodey’s legs are also inoperable due to the spinal injury he sustained in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, notably not having the leg braces he received afterward.
As a result, we can safely say that Rhodey was replaced by a Skrull while he was still in the hospital, 9 years before the events of Marvel’s Secret Invasion.
It means the real Rhodey missed not only the Battle of Wakanda featured in Avengers: Infinity War but also the events of Avengers: Endgame, an incredibly dark and tragic twist considering the fate of Tony Stark’s Iron Man.
Now only time will tell more about the faith of this beloved Marvel character. Emilia Clarke’s character will also make a major impact on MCU as we don’t even knows the full powers of the Super Skrull. That being said, we have to keep our eyes on the future projects because many big reveals are still waiting for us.
