The John Wick universe is known for it’s well established plotlines surrounding our John (Keanu Reeves) who goes on a mission to take the revenge for what? His DOG! While the story might sound funny to them who has not watched a single installment from this franchise, but for those who have watched all four parts- I am pretty sure that you might be getting goosebumps already.
Now that a fifth John Wick film is under development at Lionsgate, you may be wondering about it’s details (and so do I). Well, if the answer is Yes then you are at the right place. John Wick 5 Release Date & Latest Updates!
The very first thing that you may ask is definitely the release schedule (and it’s the most interesting one as well right?). Set in the universe with full of twists and surprises, John Wick is known for taking a good amount of time before delivering it’s next installment. Despite this consistency, things are looking a bit different for John Wick 5.
The fourth film was concluding the long journey of our John with his death and it was looking a no brainer to pull out another installment- but we do knows that Hollywood is full of surprises right? You never knows what is going to happen next (Even John Cena can present Oscars while staying nak*d).
The announcement of John Wick 5 landed out of nowhere. I mean, none of us was expecting it but who knew that the director Chad Stahelski is planning something unexpected. It was May 2023 when he takes a step forward and confirms that a fifth film is indeed in development at the company. Later in July 2023, the director of all four John Wick films said that he didn’t know that a fifth movie would happen.
Just in case if you don’t know then let me tell you that Chad has even hinted at more movies. The director has officially claimed that he has a bunch of stories which can even bring us John Wick 5, 6, 7, 8 and so on- but only if he feels like that! He won’t be making any project for the sake of cash and that’s the best thing I have heard in years. His full quote says:
“I have no interest in doing the cash grab of bringing John Wick back for something. Is he a character I like? Of course. And if I did a couple of John Wick movies, great. Keanu would do one again in a second if we had a good story.”
Now neither director Chad nor Lionsgate studios has confirmed a single thing regarding the release schedule- however, I have a good idea about it. Since the team is doing a lot of work on the script and they have to cast a bunch of new characters, I can safely say that John Wick 5 may release somewhere in 2026 (at the earliest). Apart from this, the next John Wick movie that we are going to watch is actually a spinoff. Yes! I am talking about Ana De Armas-led Ballerina. The movie is a direct spinoff of John Wick 4 and is currently set to release on June 7, 2024. Despite the fact that it is a direct spinoff of the fourth film, the story is still taking place between the events of third and fourth parts.
John Wick 5: My Twisted Plot Predictions!
Now that you knows about every latest update related to John Wick 5, the next thing I am going to deliver you is the plotline. Yes I do knows that the official script is still been written inside the Lionsgate studios, but what’s bad in making predictions right?
By the end of fourth film, it is looking evident that our John is now resting in peace, Sorry- in power. However, we never really got a chance to watch his body. In the final moments, the other protagonists were present at the grave of John, but I am still pretty sure that it is nothing but just a plan of our Wick.
It is not the first time when we are watching something like this, especially at Hollywood. Take Sonic the Hedgehog 3 for example. Dr. Robotnik is returning even-though he was defeated in the final battle of Sonic 2. But again, we didn’t really saw his body and hence, the guy is returning. So my prediction is revolving around the return of our John.
It is possible that Winston helped Wick fake his death so that he was finally free of the High Table. If it happens then a lot is left to discover in this story. Why at first place did our Wick decided to isolate himself from the rest of the world? More importantly, who is the next target of our hero?
Director Stahelski has been open about the fact that there is a certain amount of ambiguity about Chapter 4‘s ending, which allows for Wick’s return. All things aside, how can we expect a fifth John Wick film without having John in it? In fact, many officials has already hinted at the return of our beloved Keanu Reeves which marks the tag of confirmation on my prediction.
I also think that John is actually going to be much weaker in John Wick 5. In the event that John had killed Caine, he would have been forced to defend himself against Caine’s daughter, with John being reluctant to kill her. Now that we’ve witnessed a so-called death of our John, I will theorize that if he returns for a fifth film then no matter what- his past is definitely going to tease him.
Either way, I can confirm that John Wick 5 is going to surpass many records on box office. It is just a matter of time before they officially announces the cast and release schedule for this project, so keep an eye on us as we will be covering everything for you. Till then- stay safe, peace out!
