Hollywood has bunch of actors that are made for their specific character from any particular IP. Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark, Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible, Toby Maguire as Spider-Man are just few of them. It doesn’t means that only male leads are made for their roles, actresses like Margot Robbie are here to rule over our hearts as Harley Quinn.
Despite being the part of DCEU for many years, Margot Robbie is now moving away from her character which can bring some new problems for both DC and Warner Bros. Still it feels like now our beloved Barbie has made her mind to leave this costume for others.
Well, no need to go anywhere because here’s everything that the Barbie actress has said in one of her latest interview!
“Just ‘Pass’ Harley Quinn To Other Actresses!”
In a recent interview with Variety, Margot Robbie was asked about her character’s future in James Gunn’s DCU. The question was asked in regards to the latest developments and modifications DC is going through. Surprisingly, we got an unexpected response which might make you feel sad.
As per the actress, she’s is done with this character and now she wants to ‘pass’ it to any other actress. The full quote reads as:
“I always wanted Harley to be a character that would get passed on to other actresses to play, the way there are so many iconic male characters. That was always the dream for her”
This line is enough to confirm that Margot Robbie is not in a mood to return as Harley Quinn in the near future of DC. She just want to see a new arc of this phenomenal character which can be explored by other actresses, but we knows that nobody can play it better then our Margot.
She continued:
“Harley’s so fun and can go in so many different directions. You put her in someone else’s hands, and it’s like, ‘What are they going to do with her?’ The options are endless.”
It is clear that our Barbie actress has enjoyed a lot while playing this epic character and now that she has made her mind to leave it for someone else, nobody can make her to change that decision.
The reason why her decision may impact DC a lot is because of their upcoming version of James Gunn’s universe. The studio is already bringing us Lady Gaga as our new Harley Quinn in Joker 2: Folie a Deus which is set to land in October 2024. However, it doesn’t mean that she will be playing this character forever, but the fact that Margot has said “NO” to Harley, we are sure that DC is left with no possible way other then moving forward with Gaga in more projects.
The faith of DC is still unknown because it’s movies are getting bombed at box office again and again, and at the time where it’s rival studio (Marvel) is going to dive deep into it’s multiverse saga, fans would definitely think twice before heading into DC’s theatres for watching movies which are busy in setting up a whole universe from their very beginning.
For Harley Quinn, the performance of Joker 2 is everything, especially when we don’t have any other alternate choice for this character. So a lot is going to get decided by this Joker’s sequel.
