2023 is proving to be a year with lots of ups and downs for the Hollywood movies. We saw the rise of Illumination with ‘The Super Mario Bros Movie‘, the fall of DC with it’s ‘Shazam 2‘, ‘The Flash‘, and ‘Blue Beetle‘, whereas we also saw the domination of Warner Bros with it’s ‘Barbie‘ movie.
But the fun is not over yet because tons of new movies are already on it’s way. Some of them are going to be a direct sequel, while others are going to bring us a whole new adventure. So let’s take a look into ‘Top Upcoming Hollywood Movies‘.
Wonka (2023)
We all knows the story of Willy Wonka, it has played an important role in making our childhood memories even more memorable. So what’s better then watching our beloved tale in a live action movie?
Luckily, Warner Bros is making it in real life. The movie is set to hit theatres on December 25, 2023 and it has already released it’s official trailer on almost every social media platform. Wonka follows a young Willy Wonka and his adventures prior to opening the world’s most famous chocolate factory.
The story is set to occur before the events of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, however, the studio is also introducing some changes in the storyline to give it a modern look. The star studded cast includes:-

- Olivia Colman
- Rowan Atkinson
- Sally Hawkins
- Keegan Michael Key
- Colin O’Brien
- Natasha Rothwell
The movie will also feature multiple musicals as teased by the producers themselves, but in short, the movie is promising something really exciting and we can’t really wait to watch it.
Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom (2023)
After a lot of controversies, DC Studio is finally moving forward without making any changes in it’s upcoming Aquaman sequel. Despite the requests of fans for replacing Amber Heard from any other actress, the studio is going to release this movie on December 20, 2023.
Talking about the plot then in DC Fandom panel in August 2020, producer Wan stated, “The sequel is going to be inspired by the modern world and culture. Also the theme will be a bit too serious and dark“.
Recently the movie has initially received some test screening to the critics, and the response was not what DC was expecting. According to the critics, the movie is not able to carry the same hype and sequences as it’s first part did.
While other said that there is an excess of action scenes which doesn’t really makes any sense. However, there were some positive reviews as well but their quantity is almost negligible.
No official synopsis is revealed yet but we might see it’s first trailer very soon. The movie will release without any delay and let’s see what happens with this controversial sequel.
The Nun II
We are also moving towards the holidays season, so how can we celebrate it without getting scared? Well, Warner Bros has something scary for us in it’s bag. The studio is officially going to release ‘The Nun II’ in theatres starting from September 8, 2023.
According to the official synopsis:-
1956 – France. A priest is murdered. An evil is spreading. The sequel to the worldwide smash hit follows Sister Irene as she once again comes face-to-face with Valak, the demon nun.
At the end of the first Nun film, it was revealed that Maurice had become possessed by the demon Valak. Maurice’s exorcism was the one shown in the video at Ed and Lorraine Warren’s later seminars twenty years later. It is also the exorcism in which Lorraine experienced the horrific visions of Ed’s death.
The Marvels
Next on our list is none other then ‘The Marvels’ which is being directed by Nia DaCosta. The movie is set to hit theatres starting from November 10, 2023 and hence ignoring any possible delay.
However, the full official plotline for ‘The Marvels‘ is kept under wraps, but if we takes a closer look on it’s trailers and what has happened so far in this ongoing multiverse saga, we can make an educated guess for the movie.
After watching Shang Chi and Ms Marvel, we knows that the bangles and the ten rings are connected with each other and Kamala has some sort of connection with the teleportation. Whereas by the end of Wandavision, we now knows that Monica Rambeau, daughter of Maria Rambeau, was affected by the Scarlet Witch’s Hex. As a result, the cells in her body were rewritten, granting her a number of energy-based superpowers.
The short synopsis of ‘The Marvels’ reads:-
Unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe” and that the wormholes seen in the trailers released so far are linked to a Kree revolutionary and the heroines’ powers becoming entangled.
Five Nights At Freddy’s
Now if you are a lover of thrilling and gaming genre, then this movie is an ideal choice for you. ‘Five Nights At Freddy’s’ is set to hit theatres starting from October 27, 2023 in US theatres.
The movie is a direct adaptation of the popular thrilling game with the same name and was in development since quite some time. Finally in June of 2023, Universal Pictures released it’s first trailer which broke many records in viewership.
According to the official synopsis, “A troubled security guard begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the late shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through.“
The movie is beautifully covering almost everything that we’ve seen in this popular game, whether it is the ice cream parlor, the swimming pool or the basement. You’ll get everything in this movie. The official confirmed cast includes :-

Madame Web (2024)
Next comes a highly anticipated movie of Sony studios which is none other then Madame Web which is set to hit theatres starting from 16 February, 2024. The movie is going to introduce tons of new spider people in the Sony’s Spider-Man universe which can eventually affect the Marvel’s multiverse as well.
There is a whole new hype for this movie, especially because of it’s epic casting. It includes our favorite Dakota Johnson in the lead role of Madame Web, Sydney Sweeney as Julia Carpenter, Isabela Merced as Anya Corazon, Emma Roberts as Mary Parker, Adam Scott as Ben Parker and Celeste O’Connor as Mattie Franklin.
The movie is being describer as a women powerhouse where every single character is going to play a very important role in the future of Sony’s Spider-Man universe.
No plot details are available as of now but Sony shared a short description of the movie with Variety & Deadline which revealed that “the film will be an origin story of the clairvoyant [Madame Web], whose psychic abilities allow her to see within the spider world“.
Joker Folie à Deux
Joker: Folie à Deux is an upcoming DC’s musical thriller film directed by Todd Phillips, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Silver. Based on DC Comics characters, the film is the sequel to Joker and stars Joaquin Phoenix, reprising his role as the Joker, and Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn.
The movie has a budget of over 150 Million USD and is set to hit US theatres starting from October 4, 2024. When Lady Gaga was added into the official cast of Joker 2, it was speculated that the film might cover some musicals as well. However, nothing related to this is confirmed by the studio.
Presuming the Taxi Driver Gotham of Joker was an invention of Arthur’s mind as he told his tale to the viewer, Folie à Deux may see the fair city reframed by Scorsese’s choices in New York, New York. The setting of the sequel may be brighter, but starker; more artificial, but somehow more fanciful.
According to some officials, it has been said that Joker 2 will also play an important role for the future films of DC Studios, so it makes this movies even more important to watch.
Deadpool 3
If we are talking about the upcoming Hollywood movies, then how can we forget about the Deadpool 3? This masterpiece is finally showcasing an epic clash of Deadpool and Wolverine where it has been speculated that Deadpool will officially kill the Fox universe (because the logo of the Fox studios was seen in the background of one of the leaked filming scenes).
We’ve already seen the first look of our Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and luckily, he finally got his comic accurate suit. We can also notice some changes in the suit of our Ryan Reynolds’ Wade but apart from this, it seems like almost every Marvel legend is going to appear in this epic movie.
This is because a lot of rumors going around regarding the cameos in Deadpool 3. Some claims that Professor X will appear while other claims the cameo of Dazzler. In fact these are not the only names, more then ten characters are rumored to appear as a cameo in Deadpool 3.
Only time will tell more about this most awaited Marvel movie but as of now, Deadpool 3 is set to hit theatres starting from May 3, 2024, however, due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, we may see a delay in it’s release.
But in short, these are some of the most awaited movies which are set to land in next one year. Dune Part 2 is also delayed till 2024 so you can also go for it as the sequel is promising some really interesting action scenes and storyline.
